  33. package.  I did not write them, but I chose to include these two
  34. fine programs in the DataLink archive for two reasons:

  36.      1.  DataLink 1.00 can use these two programs for file       
  37.          transfers.  DataLink can also use any other file
  38.          transfer program, should you not wish to use the ones
  39.          bundled with this archive.

  41.      2.  They are exceptional programs, and should be more widely
  42.          distributed.

  49.     DataLink is a Shareware program.  It is only $5, so it won't
  50. burn a hole in your pocket!  This program, which I have worked on
  51. for seven months, is more than worth the price.  After reading
  52. the list of features below, I honestly believe that you will
  53. agree.  Sending the *price* (this is not a donation) you will
  54. ensure that this product is developed further.  Not sending the
  55. fee will send a clear signal to myself and other Shareware
  56. authors that you don't care about the ST community as a whole.

  85.     Welcome to the wonderful world of telecommunications!
  86.  
  87.     DataLink is the newest program to hit the market, and
  88. chances are it's just right for you.  Some of the best features
  89. found in commercial telecommunications programs are now at your
  90. fingertips.
  91.  
  92.     An easy to use Group Dialer will let you select a group of
  93. BBS systems to call, and then dial each one in the sequence until
  94. you have connected to every board in the chain.
  95.  
  96.     The normal dialer used by DataLink will dial a BBS system
  97. until you connect, keeping track of how long you have been
  98. dialing, how many "BUSY", "NO CARRIER", and "NO DIALTONE"
  99. messages have occurred, and how many times you have dialed.

  101.     Both of DataLink's dialers show the name, the number, a
  102. comment, and the baud rate of the BBS being dialed.  You can
  103. store up to fifty BBS systems, along with the appropriate
  104. information, in each dialing directory.  There is no limit to the
  105. number of dialing directories you can maintain.

  107.     DataLink also provides you with a complete set of disk
  108. utilities, including copy, move, delete, rename, print, make
  109. folder, delete folder, touch file, append file, and free disk
  110. space.

  112.     Do you ever get tired of typing in your name and password
  113. every time you want to log-on to a BBS system?  Sure you do. 
  114. DataLink will allow you to put this annoying problem behind you
  115. forever.  You can enter up to ten strings which DataLink will
  116. search for, and up to ten strings to reply with when the search
  117. strings are found.

  119.     DataLink also provides you with a 32K buffer so that you
  120. don't miss important information.  The buffer is saved
  121. automatically when it fills.  Or, if you want to save disk space,
  122. you can set the buffer not to save until you tell it to from
  123. terminal mode.  Using the latter method, the buffer empties when
  124. it fills.  This buffer is also used in disk operations, so it is
  125. saved before every disk operation that uses it.

  129.     DataLink provides you with twenty function keys, which let
  130. you send a string with a single keypress.

  132.     Have you ever wanted to run a program from inside your
  133. terminal program, but found that the program only gave you a few
  134. spaces to enter a command line, or made it so difficult to use
  135. the execution feature that it wasn't worth it?  DataLink makes
  136. this problem a thing of the past.  With one keypress from
  137. terminal mode, you can run any of ten pre-defined programs.  It's
  138. that simple!

  140.     Want more?  So did I, so I kept adding to the program!

  142.     From terminal mode, you can look at the date and time, set
  143. the date and time, select full and half duplex, echo mode,
  144. execute a file, load an external editor, and even access
  145. accessories!

  147.     DataLink also has a Notepad mode, which lets you make notes
  148. while you are online.  You can save the notes too!

  150.     DataLink allows you to use RTS/CTS, XON/XOFF, both, or
  151. neither.

  153.     DataLink will even let you select the path where downloads
  154. go!

  160.     DataLink will run from a single sided floppy drive.  It has
  161. been compressed using PFX Pack 1.8 (Thomas Quester) and uses
  162. about 270K of memroy (including the 32K data buffer and the 32K
  163. screen buffer) so it will easily run on a 520ST.  You can un-PFX
  164. Pack DataLink with PFX Pack if you want to.
  165.  
  166. Note:  XYZ and YMG do not have to be installed as a part of your
  167.        list of files that can be executed with a single keypress.
  168.        Pressing Alt-G from inside terminal mode will execute XYZ,
  169.        and pressing Alt-I will execute YMG.  These two keypresses
  170.        are not listed in the "HELP" menu.
